MEMORIAL DAY

MEMORIAL DAY 2023

On behalf of the Military Veteran Affairs Committee (M.V.A.C.) and the Mighty Southwestern Province, we all would like to thank our soldiers for their sacrifice to this country.  MEMORIAL DAY (originally known as Decoration Day) is a federal holiday in the United States for honoring and mourning the U.S. military personnel who have died while serving in the United States Armed Forces. It is observed on the last Monday of May. From 1868 to 1970, it was observed on May 30.

Many people visit cemeteries and memorials on Memorial Day to honor and mourn those who died while serving in the U.S. military. Many volunteers place American flags on the graves of military personnel in national cemeteries. Memorial Day is also considered the unofficial beginning of summer in the United States.

Yours In The Bond,

Heart disease affects millions of people with nearly half of all adults in the United States having some type of cardiovascular disease1.  Heart disease is chronic and progressive and yet highly undertreated; and as a result remains the #1 cause of death for Americans and inflicts a large toll on many racial and ethnic groups1-3.  Although it’s more common in people over 65, heart disease can happen at any age.

Join us free of charge in-person on Saturday, October 15th in Baton Rouge or November 19th in Houston to learn more about how you can prevent, recognize, and treat heart disease -- and specifically heart valve disease -- in the elderly community, your family and yourself.
